Board Breaking
Green belts and above, as well as all adult ranks, are eligible to
participate in board breaking classes. Board breaking is a required
part of testings for brown belts and above. The earlier students learn
how to break, and start to get some experience with breaking, the more confident they will be once it is a requirement for rank promotion.
Boards may be ordered through MTA
(only available in bundles of 25 boards: $60/bundle + tax).
Students may also decide to buy boards from a local lumber yard.
Here's what you will need to know if you choose this option:
BOARD SIZE: Length x Width x Height
Green - Sr. Blue belts (juniors)
BOARD SIZE: 6" x 12" x 1"
Brown & Up (ages 6–8 years)
BOARD SIZE: 7" x 12" x 1"
Brown & Up (ages 9–12 years)
BOARD SIZE: 9" x 12" x 1"
Brown & Up (13+) and All Adults
BOARD SIZE: 11" x 12" x 1"

Some students may require a custom board size due to weight ranges
